Julie Maxwell
Julie started working for Paul Testa Architecture when she moved to Sheffield in early 2015. This came after a short sabbatical, that bookended a busy 6 years at VS-A in Lille (France), an architecture and engineering firm. Julie has an impeccable eye for detail, having honed construction drawings for buildings across Europe.
During her time at the practice, Julie has led the detailed design on a number of complex low-energy retrofit and extension projects. She particularly enjoys carrying the early design intent through to the fine construction details.
Away from architecture, Julie founded Craft Lab, a platform to tackle social problems through craft and making. She runs open-access sessions, workshops and sells products to reinvest into the programme.
Alongside her husband, Julie owns La Biblioteka, a contemporary book and magazine shop, event space, and studio in Sheffield’s city centre.
