House in the Woods design review: round two

We recently had a design review for the House in the Woods, our NPPF Paragraph 79 house in the woods.

Since the very useful first design review earlier this year we have continued developing the design. From some ideas of landscape approach and building plans, we had a much more complete proposal to present and discuss.

There’s still work to do, but we came away feeling positive and excited for this project to progress. We have some new focus and direction for the last steps of the design development.

The day was also a good reminder of how integral design reviews can be in developing a project. While it is a financial investment, we need these moments of peer review; of stepping outside of the office team and of exposing your work to external scrutiny. Rather than a burdensome hurdle, design review has injected energy and direction into our project. To be recommended.
